ALERT Program Information Evening

Date: Monday 16 October 2008  7.00 -7.30pm Registration, 7.30pm - 9.30pm Presentation

The simple and very effective ALERT Program (How Does Your Engine Run) will be discussed by our experienced Occupational Therapists and case discussions following.  The Alert Program was developed in the early 1990’s by two

Occupational Therapists in the USA - the program in underpinned by the sensory integration theory and is designed to help children to regulate themselves.  

 

This program is a must for parents of young children who seem to fall apart easily or have poor ability to understand what is happening to their mood or behaviours.  School teachers and Carers have also used this program successfully to assist children in maintaining focus and control of their behaviours.

Sensory Integration: An Introduction

Date: Monday 11th August 2008  7.00 -7.30pm Registration, 7.30pm - 9.30pm Presentation

This information evening defines sensory integration and modulation at a level that both parents and teachers will understand.  Our experienced Occupational Therapists will discuss other terms - praxis, senses, adaptive responses, developmental concerns, differences in sensory processing and what to look for in your child.

 

Sensory Defensiveness Information Night -

Monday 26th May 2008 7.30pm to 9.30pm

If you have questions about any sensory issues or have unexplained behaviour that your child exhibits - you may need to speak to our health professionals.  This night will run through a brief history of sensory integration diagnosis and treatment.

 

DIR Floortime / Engagement Model of Therapy Information Evening

Monday 16th June 2008 7.30pm to 9.30pm

The amazing philosophy of DIR Floortime as explained by its author - Dr.Stanley Greenspan  and an understanding about how you can apply these principles with your children.  Our therapists aim to assist you to understand the fundamentals of engaging your child at their developmental level.
